Wansbeck Chiropractic Clinic has compiled a strong business case for the commissioning of our services. The business plan is for an Acute Back Pain Rapid Referral Service (BPR) scheme. The scheme would allow for a fast track service for referring acute back pain patients who have failed to recover in the first two weeks of GP care to a chiropractor.

Such fast track referral service will prevent the risks of lower back pain chronicity from occurring by preventing patients spending time on a musculoskeletal services waiting list without access to best appropriate care, which is known to increase the risk of chronic back condition.

A PCT audit of a chiropractic service in Wilmslow found that for every 22 patients referred, £10,000 was saved. 8 out of 10 patients waiting for (orthopaedic appointments no longer needed them

The business plan is supported not only by various guidelines advocating best practice when treating back pain (see Info for GPs page) but also by our own validated patient outcome measurements data for the previous two years.(see outcome measure page)
